February memory

This February memory photo shows my Dori meeting a man from Hungary while visiting Minneapolis in Feb. 1996. The man was happy to see a Kuvasz and didn't say things other Hungarians in the US have said, such as "I'll just stand over here to admire the dog and not get too close." Or from a cautious distance say "They're nice if they're raised right." This man had no fear of Dori the Kuvasz and she, in turn, was happy to see him.

About the family of Livestock Guardian Dogs...

“To this day flocks are guarded in the hills of Asia, Europe and Africa* by powerful, robust dogs that are neither clumsy nor pacific. Despite the distances that separate them these breeds have much in common, and the Kuvasz is a member of this extended sheepdog family.”
