A Day in the Life -- This blog is about a day in the life of our beloved ancient Kuvasz living in today's modern world. This blog, in conjunction with KUVASZ FANCIERS OF AMERICA, is an independent service to all the Kuvasz of the world! My focus is on the Kuvasz, the traditional Hungarian dog still bred to ancient standards, as described by the FCI and traditional standards, not modern or non-Hungarian breed club rules. Please send emails and photos for the blog to AMY.ELFTMANN@GMAIL.COM.

Luna and the chickens
Last night my daughter forgot to lock the chicken coop. You can see it at the back of the barn in the first picture. Luna our 13 month old Kuvasz sleeps in the barn outside of the coop area on a dog bed that's put away in the day. This morning I opened the barn door and the chickens all ran out. I looked in, shocked that they were out of their coop and afraid of what I'd find inside, and there was Luna, on her bed with 44 chickens running around her. She hadn't hurt a single one. Keep in mind that we only got her in February and she'd never been near a chicken before. It was a situation that could have been disastrous but our sweet Luna proved her worth. And as the icing on the cake, she chased off two hawks today as they went after the chickens. Love this breed! Ok... Bragging done! Lol
